For this 47th edition, which kicked off, among other things, the centenary celebrations of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Rétromobile confirmed its status as the benchmark exhibition for classic car enthusiasts, from 1 to 5 February.

In total, no fewer than 125,000 visitors walked the aisles of this 2023 edition, the second highest attendance figure for the exhibition since its creation in 1976. The teams at Comexposium proved equal to the challenge, with the added bonus of Saturday 4 February breaking the record for the highest number of visitors ever recorded for a single day! French and international visitors were able to admire or purchase the 1,000 vehicles on display across the 73,000m² of exhibition space, bringing together over 500 exhibitors, including 12 car manufacturers.

35.5 million euros was the total amount generated by the official Rétromobile 2023 auction, organised by Artcurial Motorcars. The 1951 Ferrari 340 America Barchetta Touring Superleggera from the Bart Rosman Collection topped the list (€5,706,000). The Flying Saucer from the Renault Icons Collection, meanwhile, far exceeded estimates after being sold for €71,520 (including fees).

Beyond the figures, and in the opinion of the specialists, this 2023 edition will remain a memorable show for the quality of the line-up presented. In the aisles of hall 1, visitors could see the Bucciali V12 “Flèche d’or”, a unique model from 1932, more than 50 authentic vehicles from the 24 Hours of Le Mans – the equivalent of a starting grid -, 8 legendary racing Ferraris on the Richard Mille stand, including one of the 36 Ferrari 250 GTOs produced between 1962 and 1964, or the Porsche 911 Dakar presented by the German manufacturer for the first time in Europe.

Everyone at Rétromobile would like to thank the exhibitors, partners, loyal customers and new visitors to the exhibition without whom such a success would not have been possible. We would also like to congratulate the various partners of the special features, starting with the Automobile Club de L’Ouest, with which two exhibitions dedicated to the centenary of the 24 Hours of Le Mans were organised, not forgetting the parade escorted by the motorised Republican Guard which took place in the streets of Paris on Monday 31 January.

As for the Vanlife exhibition, highly popular with collectors with a thirst for adventure, the “Coflocs” literally took visitors on a journey during the screening of their film “Vanlife, les nouveaux nomades” and during the various workshops and question-and-answer sessions they held for the public.

Finally, a highly contagious wave of good humour would not have been possible in the three pavilions of the exhibition without the presence of the Club des Teuf-Teuf and the Vélocipédistes, who work to preserve a heritage that is more than a hundred years old while continuing to keep it on the road. Young and old alike were also able to admire the Dollar exhibition presented by the eponymous club or some of the masterpieces of the history of transport presented by six museums, including the 1873 Obéissante lent for the occasion by the Musée des Arts et Métiers.

True to its motto the past always has a future, this 47th edition proves more than ever that the classic vehicle sector has many promising years ahead of it!

Save the date for 31 January – 4 February 2024 for the 48th edition of the show, which will also have plenty of surprises in store. In the meantime, the team will be at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, where it will take part in the drivers’ parade aboard four vehicles decked out in Rétromobile colours.
